Members' Exhibitions

Members' own exhibitions can now be listed on the Exhibitions Diary page. Contact Katie to be added.

Photos from members' exhibitions are also in the Photo Gallery, as above.

Ayscoughfee Cafe

There is a regularly changed, ongoing exhibition and sale of members' paintings in the cafe at Ayscoughfee Hall gardens. Due to refurbishment the hanging space has been reduced, so it is not possible to display as many as before. To make sure everyone has the opportunity to display their work PLEASE phone Jean Cook on 01205 352675 before the changeover dates to book a slot as space is limited. Also paintings should be less than 18 inches wide to guarantee hanging. The hanging fee remains at £1 per painting for 2 months, and a 15% commission charge for work sold. Changeover day is the first Monday every other month. The cafe will close on 12th December 2011 and will reopen on 16th January 2012. Handing in or collection of paintings between 10 - 10.30a.m.

A few reminders for preparing exhibits . . .

Presenting Exhibits

When exhibiting paintings, the way they are presented is important, so please make sure it is framed to a high standard. When busy it is easy to make a mistake, such as leaving off the fixings or card on the back. For paintings behind glass, use clean mounts, and seal with good quality tape on the back. Also dust over the glass and check the tape if the work has been hanging elsewhere. Use double mounts for pastels, and remember to paint edges on a box canvas. Work is devalued if not presented properly, so a little attention to detail can result in a sale - hopefully!
